Richard is Managing Director of Business Development for MidFirst Bank's California market. He co-founded 1st Century Bank in 2003, playing a central role as investor and capital fundraiser before joining the team full-time in 2004. Following the complete alignment of 1st Century under MidFirst in April 2026, Richard continues to represent the bank's presence and growth strategy in California.
Previously, Richard worked as a lawyer for various firms, a business development executive for the Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. Online Division and a senior financial analyst with the Walt Disney Company Consumer Products Division.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in American civilization, history and culture from Brown University, a Master of Business Administration and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Southern California.
He is actively involved in raising funds and awareness for the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, where he has served as a founding member (now emeritus) of its Patient Council since 2006. From 2013 to 2023, Richard served as a commissioner for the City of Los Angeles Commission on Disability.
Richard resides in Los Angeles with his wife Julie and their identical twin daughters, Rosie and Ava. He also has two adult children — Oliver, who works in the high tech sector in Portland, Ore., and Marty, who is a recent graduate of Mount Holyoke College.
